The high density foams used are designed to stay light and impact absorbent for up to mid level hockey. The design allows for a more freer range of movement as it is hinged to allow the leg to independently move from the guard. To secure the knee guards, Bauer has used a 2 strap Velcro based system that helps keep the guards secure to the body.
