One of the key aspects of the new Vaughn Velocity V9 goalie chest protector is the adjustability for a more customized fit. Almost half of the goalies in the NHL choose the Vaugh chest protector based off of it’s fit, level of protection and maneuverability. Now, Vaughn has taken this to the next level when they introduced the V9 model line.
Using a high density foam protection throughout gives the V9 better overall protection in a lightweight build.
The adjustability starts with the chest and sternum plate. The new design allows for more blocking surface and is adjustable vertically to give you more versatility in the fit and function of the chest pad.
Giving the chest protector more range of motion is key and the segmented shoulder floaters were designed to lessen the restriction that some goalies feel while moving east to west.
The elbow floaters are fully articulating with Vaughn’s new design seeing an insert placed into the mid seam portion to allow for full coverage in the elbows.
A more enhanced construction gives you better overall coverage in the arms without sacrificing movement.
And here where the adjustable is important. Vaughn has now added the adjustable feature to their arms length. It’s a very simple process and takes mere seconds to adjust the arms for a more customized fit.
There is no true way of determining what size is right for you, however Vaughn has provided a sizing platform used to narrow down the fit of the chest and arm protectors as below:
PROTECTOR SIZE GOALIE HEIGHT IN INCHES
Junior Medium/Large 4'7" - 4'11"
Junior Small/Medium 4' - 4'7"
